Fine jewelry
Borrow against your fine jewelry
Yes. You can borrow against fine jewelry without selling it. MarketLoan is being built so a piece you own is professionally valued, held in insured custody, and returned to you when you repay. You keep ownership — you're just borrowing against the value, not letting it go for a lowball offer.
How it's valued
Fine jewelry is valued by independent, insured professionals who look at the stones, the metal, the craftsmanship, and the condition. A grading certificate — for example from the GIA — helps confirm quality. The independent valuation, not a store's counter-offer, is what your loan offer is based on.
How it's held in custody
Your jewelry is shipped insured and held by a professional custody partner in insured storage for the life of the loan. It's tracked and protected the entire time, and returned to you when you repay.
How the loan is secured
Every loan is secured by the asset you pledge and by a UCC-1 lien — a public notice that records the lender's claim on that specific item — filed when your loan agreement is accepted.
Loans on MarketLoan are funded by verified accredited investors; you don't deal with them directly.
If a loan isn't repaid, the asset is sold to cover it — a consequence you'll see clearly disclosed before you accept any offer.

Fine jewelry loan FAQ
- Can I borrow against jewelry without selling it?
- Yes — that's the whole idea. Selling jewelry means losing it, usually for far less than it's worth. MarketLoan is being built so you can borrow against it, keep ownership, and get the exact piece back when you repay.
- Do I need a certificate or appraisal?
- A grading certificate (like a GIA report) or a recent appraisal helps confirm quality and supports a stronger valuation, but the independent valuation is done as part of your request. Receipts and documentation help too.
- What happens to my jewelry if I can't repay?
- If a loan isn't repaid, the jewelry is sold to cover it — a consequence disclosed clearly before you accept any offer. As long as you repay on the agreed schedule, the exact piece is returned to you.
