Gold
Borrow against your gold
Yes. You can borrow against physical gold you own — bullion, coins, or fine gold jewelry — without selling it. MarketLoan is being built so your gold is professionally valued, held in insured custody, and returned to you when you repay. You keep the metal and any change in its value over time.
How it's valued
Gold is valued by independent, insured professionals against its weight, purity, and form — bullion and recognized coins are the most straightforward. Fine gold jewelry is valued on craftsmanship and stones as well as metal. The independent valuation, not a cash-for-gold counter-offer, is what your loan offer is based on.
How it's held in custody
Your gold is shipped insured and held by a professional custody partner in insured storage for the life of the loan. It's tracked and protected the entire time, and the same items are returned to you when you repay.
How the loan is secured
Every loan is secured by the asset you pledge and by a UCC-1 lien — a public notice that records the lender's claim on that specific item — filed when your loan agreement is accepted.
Loans on MarketLoan are funded by verified accredited investors; you don't deal with them directly.
If a loan isn't repaid, the asset is sold to cover it — a consequence you'll see clearly disclosed before you accept any offer.

Gold loan FAQ
- Can I borrow against gold instead of selling it to a cash-for-gold shop?
- Yes — that's the point. Cash-for-gold shops buy your metal outright, often below its real value. MarketLoan is being built so you can borrow against it, keep ownership, and get your gold back when you repay.
- What forms of gold qualify?
- Physical gold you own — such as bullion bars, recognized coins, and fine gold jewelry. Bullion and recognized coins are the most straightforward to value. The exact eligibility list is published at launch.
- Do I get the same gold back?
- Yes. Your specific items are held in insured custody and returned to you when the loan is repaid. If a loan isn't repaid, the gold is sold to cover it — disclosed clearly before you accept any offer.
